Chat Folders is a local-only browser extension for organizing selected ChatGPT conversation references.
When you choose to add a conversation to a folder, the extension stores the conversation title, canonical URL, conversation identifier, folder assignment, optional custom title, timestamps, and local interface preferences. This data is stored only in extension-owned IndexedDB and browser storage on your device. It is processed locally to provide folders, saved references, and related extension features. We do not receive this data.
Chat Folders does not transmit, sell, share, or otherwise make this data available to us or to any third party. The extension has no analytics, advertising, tracking, cloud service, cookies, or account system. It does not read or store message contents, prompts, responses, uploaded files, authentication tokens, passwords, or payment information.
Your saved data remains on your device in browser-managed, extension-owned storage. We do not operate a server that receives or retains this data. The data is retained until you delete the saved reference or folder, clear the extension's data, or uninstall the extension.
You can remove saved references and folders at any time. Removing a reference or folder removes only the local Chat Folders record; it never deletes the underlying ChatGPT conversation. You can export or import your local data from Settings, and uninstalling the extension removes its local extension data.
